Can muscle spasms cause brief sciatica?

Muscle spasms: Typically it's the opposite. Compressed nerves or nerve irritation as what happens in "sciatica" or sciatic nerve pain cause the muscle spasms. The spasms themselves can then worsen the irritation of the nerve(s) leading to further symptoms.
