Not usually: Only people with renal or kidney disease should avoid contrast gadolinium used as contrast for the study. Otherwise quite safe procedure with no side effects. Patients are checked for metal implants and pacemakers which can cause issues with magnetic field. Some patients have claustrophobia have difficulties with tunnel moved into for the study.
