A member asked:

Is there anything otc i can get for high cholesterol? i'm a vegetarian and don't use fish oil.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

One option: Red yeast rice naturally contains lovastatin. Naive people who think "synthetic is bad" can use this very effective cholesterol-lowering agent and imagine it's superior "because it's natural." Vegetarianism is only a mild help in managing lipid and when you control for everything, really doesn't protect against heart disease or much else. Especially, Rx yourself some good aerobic exercise.
