Hypothyroid: If this thyroid problem is one of an under active thyroid the next steps can be very simple. This will involve starting on a daily thyroid replacement. This diagnosis is one of the most common problems in american medicine. If your diagnosis is hyperthryoid please ask again for more clear answers for you.

Depends: It depends upon the results. If the level was low, you can be given brand name T4 replacement and lab checked to make sure the dose is appropriate. If the level was too high, you can receive radioiodine for a one time treatment or pills that you'll have to take for 18 mos and maybe lifelong. Check w/your doctor or an endocrinologist.
