Yes: Yes. Giardia is a parasite that is confined to the bowels. Systemic symptoms such as lethargy and weakness can occur as you become dehydrated and depleted of electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium, or malnourished. Some people have no symptoms whatsoever, not even diarrhea.

Yes: Sx's – there may be no sx's or diarrhea, oily floating stool, gas, nausea, vomiting & abdominal cramps. If untreated it can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration & weight loss. Diagnosis- via blood test for antibodies, stool antigen & checking stool for ova & parasites.
