Globus sensation: That is the medical term for what you are describing. Can be a very vexing problem. In some cases, it is due to occult reflux. Try some OTC Prilosec and see if if helps or not. If not, see your doctor to see if you should be referred to a specialist such as a Gastroenterologist or ENT.
