Xray says left iliac crest is 15 mm higher than right, and patient is a riser of 5. what does riser of 5 mean?

Risser Grade: I suspect they meant to say Risser 5. This is grading of how mature the iliac crest apophysis is. This is thought to predict how much a scoliosis will progress with continued growth of the adolescent. Grade 5 is a completely fused iliac crest apophysis, suggesting the scoliosis will not progress. Keep in mind a leg length discrepancy could also cause pelvic tilt.
