Yes, salmeterol is a: adrenaline [the primary neurotransmitter inducing both (a) lung smooth muscle (around all bronchioles) relaxation & (b) ↑ed heart rates (possibly arrhythmia) under brain control via direct nerve fibers to all these muscles 24/7] analogue, thus broad responses. Oral, SQ & IV meds cannot replicate this because go everywhere, thus side effects. Salmeterol attempts target only bronchial muscles.
