Not first line: Lasix (furosemide) and other powerful loop diuretics are not a first line treatment for uncontrolled hypertension, unless there are clear signs of volume overload. Without end organ damage, there's no need for IV therapy; most can be managed via oral medications as an outpatient.

Here are some ...: Lasix (furosemide) may drastically decrease blood volume so to decrease BP but temporarily, leading to some drop in blood perfusion through kidneys; this may hurt kidney function in time. Certain drugs especially those for high BP may induce a decrease in blood perfusion inside kidneys also, especially in those with some already impaired renal function.
