Stress and strain: Lifting weights can cause stress and strain in the shoulder, especially where the collar bone (clavicle) connects to the wing bone (scapula) in an area called the acromioclavicular joint. If it hurts, stop the activity, put ice on it and rest for a few day before resuming activity. If it doesn't get better, an injection may help. Surgery is rarely required.
