Thrombosis: Endovascular coiling of aneurysms leads to thrombosis around the coils, closing off part or all of the aneurysm sac. The first methods were over 200 years ago, and involved using cotton. Endovascular coiling allows treatment of aneurysms in otherwise hard to reach areas.
