When should an emergency referral for mental health care be provided to a soldier?

Everyone: In my opinion, if anyone is in emotional distress a referral should be made. This becomes particularly important if the person is homicidal, suicidal, or cannot perform the normal activities of daily living.

Harm: When he or she is in imminent danger of harming him or herself and others. You can never be 100% sure of this. But better safe than sorry; reworded, it's better to think that something is wrong, have a checked, and find out that there's nothing wrong then to assume nothing is wrong and find out the hard way that there is.
