A member asked:

What is the long-term effect of having thrombocytosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually none: The high platelet count that often accompanies iron deficiency is probably harmless. Even the high platelet count in essential thrombocythemia often causes no troubles; your physicain will advise you about managing risk, and often the best treatment is "nothing". I'm glad you asked as this generates much worry. Best wishes.
