What type of injection do patients get before a tooth procedure?

Local Anesthesia : Most patients get an injection of a local anesthetic prior to tooth procedure. This will help to stop the pain during the procedure and make the patient less apprehensive. A topical rub can be applied to lessen the discomfort during the injection process

Local anesthesia: Typically an injection at/near the site of the tooth/teeth being treated. In some cases on the lower jaw a "block" injection is given to numb the entire half of the mouth on that side and all the teeth up to the midline in front. Since we have had Septocaine this is not needed as much. Always ask for topical anesthesia before the injection -- gets tissue numb first.

Local anesthetic: The most commonly used local anesthetic is lidocaine to control pain and bleeding. Ask your dentist for more information.
