Probably ulnar nerve: The small finger's feeling is provided by the ulnar nerve. If this nerve is pinched, it will cause numbness in the small finger, and the side of the ring finger closest to the small finger. The most common place this nerve is pinched is the elbow, and symptoms are worse when leaning on the elbow or keeping the elbow bent. The nerve can also be pinched at the wrist, or the neck.

Pinched nerve?: Often, this is caused by a "pinched" nerve at the elbow. Specifically, the ulnar nerve which runs through a tight "tunnel" at about the spot we call the "funny bone." trying to sleep with your elbow straight (try wrapping a towel around it before bed) can make a difference. Avoid pressure on your elbow (like leaning on a counter). Seek help from a hand surgeon and get it checked out soon!
