Less is more: Try 3-5ml and she should ideally direct it to where pain felt most intently. Partner needs to be wearing condom or will also anesthetize / delay him. Can be learned by trial and error fairly easily/quickly--partner's patience very helpful.

Talk to GYN MD: This is a topic that is best discussed with your friend's ob/gyn doctor. Pain on intercourse is not normal, and perhaps can be treated. Good luck.
