A member asked:

A little dog bit my sisters child who is 2 in 5 months on the hand. he has a slight cut to the finger he's not crying but it's bleeding

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dog bites on hands: Bleeding on the fingers can be difficult to control because we move our fingers all the time causing wounds to reopen. It can easily take 2-4 hours of firm but gentle pressure to stop the bleed. You don't want to use too much pressure as this prevents clotting. She may need stitches if the bleeding continues but then she would also need antibiotics. Check on the dog's rabies vaccine too.
