Permethrin: is usually applied once and repeated in 1-2 weeks. Treatment of family members and decontamination of your home is very important so that repeated doses beyond the two above can be avoided. Although generally regarded as safe for short term use, repeated doses increases concern for toxicity (particularly in the very young or elderly) and can be very irritating to the skin.
