Confused: You sound confused. SHBG is a protein that carries estrogen and testosterone in the blood stream. Taking birth control will increase SHBG levels. This typically lowers free testosterone levels. If your testosterone level is high, it would be due to a different cause (?PCOS).

SHBG: Birth control upregulates sex hormone binding globulin SHBG allowing it to bind to more circulating Free Testosterone. This decreases the level of active testosterone. Once you stop birth control pills all of this effects goes away over about 7 days as the birth control hormones wear off
