It is a problem: Withdrawal from alcohol lowers the seizure threshold. One does not withdraw from alcohol if they continuously drink (bad idea) or avoid alcohol altogether (better idea). In some recurrent seizures are due to recurrent episodes of alcohol withdrawal (not epilepsy if the seizures are always provoked) Arriving at an understanding of his situation is the first step.
