A member asked:

Took monistat3 for yi, 2 days later i've started to spot. i have the nexplanon implant for bc, wondering if spotting is from m3 or just bc as normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to know: Unpredictable bleeding is a very common side effect of the birth-control implant. A yeast infection can cause mild bleeding from inflammation and irritation. The Monistat and the applicator can also be irritating. It's hard to know which one caused your symptoms. If your yeast symptoms don't resolve, see your doctor for an exam, because sometimes it's something else.
