Ice splint elevate: Rest Ice Compression Elevation (RICE) is a good mnemonic for most sports injuries. Your finger is probably sprained but a tendon rupture, dislocation or fracture is possible. Keep your hand elevated, apply ice on/off and be sure that you have good circulation to the fingertip (remove any rings). if symptoms persist for a few days consider a visit to your doctor and possible X-ray.
