Generally not much: Paf may require rate control and some form of anticoagulation. These medications are generally well tolerated and don't change your life.

Atrial fibrillation: Usually paroxysmal afib is well tolerated. At 73 some rate suppressive therapy and anticoagulation may be needed. If the rhythm is recurrent and can't be pharmacologically controlled, ablation may be an option to decrease or obliterate the paroxysms.
