Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and ER: If you are not allergic, take a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) right away. If you are, do not take that medicine. Then go to the er, or emergent care. The issue is a swelling of your throat and inability to breath. It doesn't get worse than not breathing. Do one or both quickly, if at work, they will let you leave. Take care of yourself!
