A member asked:

Do hormones affect how often you have bowel movements?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: The most common hormone problem that can affect bowel habits is hyper or hypothyroidism. A low thyroid will contribute to constipation. A high thyroid level will result in increased number of bowel movements. Primary hyperparathyroidism associated with high calcium levels can also cause constipation.
