Push: Tietze syndrome, as you put it, is a term often used to describe costochondritis. It involves an inflammation of the ribs at the junction where the bone of the rib meets the cartilage portion. Patients usually have pretty severe tenderness in their rib at the site of the pain. So if you palpate the area you are hurting, and it is on the rib and it is quite tender, it may be costochondritis.
