Things to avoid: Stimulants are triggers in many patients. This may include caffeine (even chocolate, green tea, etc) and nicotine. Alcohol can also have effect although it is generally considered sedating. Hot compresses/baths and muscle stimulation (massage etc) are helpful.

RLS relief: In addition to iron, some patients find that magnesium supplements help (100-200 mg magnesium oxide with the evening meal). Vigorous leg exercises an hour before bedtime helps some and make RLS worse in others. Hot baths, whirlpool baths, massage, and rubbing vibrators on the legs all have their adherents.
