No advantage: Simvastatin has a host of benefits aside from the pure lowering LDL aspect; ezetrol, while it reduces ldl, does not seem to have the same level of effect on actual coronary artery disease as the statins do. It may be reasonable to use one over the other due to allergy or drug reactions, but most doctors will go with the statin drug.
