Urine output: Decreased urination, dry mouth & skin, crying but no tears etch can be signs if dehydration. Be sure to push enough fluids. Baby doesn't need to gulp it down, but even steady spoonfuls at a time can help. You can buy electrolyte solutions or make your own. No wet diapers and: See the picture/diagram here---often a child experiencing dehydration will have less or even no urine thus lacking the usual wet/heavy diapers. Dry lips, lack of tears, sunken eye sockets, tenting of skin, and baby often appears tired/sick/weak/lethargic. If child is appearing ill and not eating/drinking well, please take her/him to see doc asap. Good luck.

Thirst, dry mouth +: Sticky mouth, reduced activity, decreased urine output (no wet diapers for few hours), dry skin, constipation, lack of sweat, fussiness also anterior fontanelle on head can be sunken. Dehydration always a concern if baby has prolonged diarrhea &/or vomiting.
