"Cold Turkey": Some people are able to just quit smoking cold turkey, but most find this very difficult. The physical addiction to nicotine is powerful, and the available medicines help curb the strong cravings to smoke and are very helpful in making your efforts to quit a success. Having the cravings under control allows you to focus on the reasons that you smoke and work on new habits. I recommend the meds!

Depends on…: Individual: some can quit "cold turkey" & never be tempted to restart; others quit & start again many times before success; others need medical help (nicotine replacement & tapering off or nicotine blocking). Substituting other activities each time u crave a smoke may help as can using carrot/celery stick as cigarette replacement while keeping mind occupied. Avoiding smoking environments helps too.
