Provided by Surgeon.: Aftercare instructions are always provided to patients by their operating surgeon. Always best to follow these instructions precisely, as opposed to those instructions that you may receive online. Keep in mind that different surgeons do things differently; your surgeon will know exactly what was done, how you are progressing, and is ultimately responsible for your care. Best wishes.

Depends: Immediately after surgery i find patients who eat greasy or fatty food have a lot of abdominal pain and cramping with diarrhea and urgent trips to the bathroom. It takes a while for the body to get used to not having a large input of bile with each meal to help digest the fat. While almost everyone goes back to eating a normal diet. I recommend my patients avoid high fat foods for the first 4 wk.
