Needs evaluation: Could be ulcers. Black tarry stools are a definite sign of upper GI bleeding & is serious. Bleeding has to be pretty bad before you see that. You need a blood count and probably a upper GI endoscopy where your stomach is actually looked into from your mouth. It really isn't as bad as it sounds-i have had 3 without any anesthesia, it's just a little annoying for a few minutes.Don't put this off.
