Several are common: Assuming no allergies or contraindications to their use, tylenol (acetaminophen) (acetamenophen) and Ibuprofen (advil, motrin) are used commonly for fever. The ultimate treatment however is to treat the cause. A cool or tepid bath also can help if the fever is resistant. Avoid using any topical chemicals ie alcohol rub.
