Sort of : On a visual examination yes herpes, yeast, scratches and allergic reactions can look similar. Testing though will clear up any confusion. Testing is accurate.

By whom?: Generally the two disease presentations are distinctly different. Herpes lesions are usually quite tender and painful, shallow ulcers after the transient blister-like lesions open up. Not too many things look like this.
