To comfort: The best person to ask is the doctor treating your fractures. How many weeks since the original injury? Walking too soon could compromise healing. My usual advise to patients is to walk to comfort. Anything casing pain is too much force on the healing fracture.

Stop walking !!: "very sore and red" it is telling you that it is not healed. It generally takes a 18 year old kid 8 weeks to heal a fracture. There is a lot of pressure on the metatarsals with walking and yours are broke (healing). Give it some time. If you must be up on your feet a below the knee walking boot would help or a rocker bottom shoe like a mba. Even with these choices if it is hurting - stay off.
