I'm an veteran with add. i only get motivated by intense (negative) stress. is this normal?

It's your norm...: You may have been conditioned in the service to respond to intense stress situations and have learned to focus when under intense stress in a more effective manner. You need to work with a psychologist so that you can learn strategies to focus without the need for the intense negative stress situations, as this is not a healthy way to interact with your environment if it is not necessary.
