Seborrheic derm.: A scaling scalp is commonly due to a condition known as seborrheic dermatitis. An effective over the counter treatment is to use selsun blue shampoo, lathering it in and letting it stay in for 5 minutes before rinsing. This should be done 2-4 times per week, depending upon severity. I also recommend to my patients to dry their hair and not just let it air dry. See your doctor if no improvement.
