It's OK, but ask...: It is likely that the doctor simply wants monitor your child a little more closely to catch any concerning changes related to head circumference, a measure of head size. Given your child is showing no other abnormalities in behavior or physical findings, it sounds like appropriate monitoring. In the meantime, reach out to the doc to get a deeper understanding about this plan--you deserve to know.

Don't be alarmed!: Carefully looking at growth charts is an important part of all pediatric check-ups. If the head circumference goes up it could mean possible increased fluid around the brain or it could just be a big head! if there is any concern regarding development, a cranial ultrasound might be done to rule-out serious cranial anomalies. Head size should be followed for a number of months to be sure.

Head circumference &: Length are best done by the same person, the same way, every time to avoid " inter-observer error."it takes 3 points to make a line, so your child's doctor is checking to see if her head growth is, indeed, accelerated. I agree with your asking her doctor if there was any concern about her development, physical exam or neurological exam. Firstsigns.Org has developmental screening tests , also.
