Sedative effects: When administering a narcotic, such as morphine , which has sedative effects along with analgesic or pain relief effects in addition to a benzodiazepam, such as diazepam, which has sedative effects together these can cause increased sedative effects an also respiratory depression which can be a dangerous combination. The mechanism is mediated via central nervous system depression.
