No real side effects: People can be started on birth control pills to help treat painful periods, help reduce ovarian cysts, and some help with acne as you mentioned. Once off the pill, it may take a couple of cycles for your body to regulate your period. Also, you may notice that your periods are more painful and your acne may return.
