Generally. : Ovulation detection kits are generally accurate and if they show a surge then generally you will ovulate, or release an egg, approximately 26-40 hours later. Occasionally, but not often, you will be a false positive. The odk will show a surge but you did not really ovulate. Uncommon but possible. If you doubt the odk, either try another kit and/or switch to basal body temperature charts.
