Yes: Yes. Anything that distracts someone from focusing on the present moment can impair memory. Memories sometimes don't get generated when the mind is distracted by worry.

Yes: Memory is quite complicated. Anxiety of any sort can cause problems with attention. If there are problems with attending or focussing there can be problems with memory.

Some concerns: Agree with dr NASH about some emotional contributors, but would ponder medication side effects, potential sleep disorder, or even vitamin deficiency. Might check homocysteine level, or thyroid status.
