Yes, for a purpose.: The fight or flight response, anger or fear, can produce adrenaline that shuts down unnecessary functions so you can best fight your way to safety or run away from danger. That means shutting down unnecessary brain activities like your ability to retreive information from long term memory. You are supposed to be in self-defense mode, not reminiscing.
