A member asked:

65 yr. old female- migraines for 25 yrs (3-4 per wk.) is there any new research that might one day be hopeful for migrainers? take imitrix.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Avoid Imitrex (sumatriptan): At your age, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular problems have high potential and a risk of triptans is potential for heart attack or stroke. Far safer to prevent with an otc agent such as riboflavin, butterbur, feverfew, or co-q10, or try botox, occipital nerve blocks, acupuncture, newer dental splints, or a newer plastic surgical approach.
