No: Not usually. But if you have not had a screening colonoscopy i would strongly recommend that you do.

Not necessarily: But think about your colon. It has to move heavy load of old stool. Start a bowel regimen with goal of 2 soft bowel movements daily. Water, juices up to 1.5 liters daily, fiber tablets, laxatives (milk of magnesium or miralax), stool softeners, probiotics, and walking are all non-prescription things you can use for your bowel regimen. At 50 your colonoscopy will evaluate for cancer.
