There is a rapid : Decline in bone density after menopause du to loss of estrogen. A 33% loss is excessive, however. This may be do to an error in measurement by the device, that is my guess. See if the number is correct, if u have osteoporosis start treating. Low dose estradiol, for those without a contraindication, helps hot flashes and help prevent further loss. Raloxifene at be a good idea if no estrogen.

Yes if not treated: You need to see your endocrinologist immediately and find out whether anything else is happening and get on medication to prevent further bone loss and preventable fractures. Do it now!

Bone density loss: Can be managed very easily if you see an internist or endocrinologist for an evaluation. A urine and blood test will be needed as well as a good history taken to determine the problem. Then treatment can be rendered. There are some great meds available to treat you.
