A member asked:

What can i eat if i have kidney stones ?what i have to avoid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on Type: Stones can be uric acid, calcium phosphate, calcium oxalate and cysteine. Depending on type you should modify your diet. All stone formers should be on a low sodium diet because it decreases calcium and uric acid excretion by the kidney. A low protein diet, especially low in purines (red meats), helps decrease uric acid. Finally and most important; drink at least 3-4 quarts of fluid a day.
