See below: These are entities along the spectrum of what we call gestational trophoblastic disease (gtd). The simple answer is that it is the degree of aggressiveness (although it is more complicated than that). A choriocarcinoma from gestational trophoblastic disease is from being pregnant, so can't occur in virginal woman, but you can get choriocarcinoma not developing from gtd. Even a male can get this.
