Not necessarily: There are different types of chest ct scans that focus on different areas of interest. Most chest ct scans are done looking at he lungs for symptoms such as a chronic cough or coughing up blood. Other ct scans look at the major blood vessels in the chest such as the aorta, while the newest type, a coronary ct angiogram specifically looks for coronary artery blockages that can cause a heart attack.
