Possible lymph node: If you are referring to your genital area near the groin, this could be a swollen lymph node. Lymph nodes serve as "filters" for your immune system and may become inflammed when ever there is an infection or irritation in a nearby area. In general, the lymph system drains down and towards the center of the body. So anything like "jock itch", etc, could cause a painful swelling.

See Dr.: You may have something like a simple cyst or early abscess on the skin that happens to be in your groin area, a folliculitis if you shave there, or it may be a lymph node since they are also present in that area. Either way, if it persists, you need to see a dr. For a clinical exam and evalutation of the area. Good luck.
